A third-cultured
communication &
heritage specialist
based in Amsterdam.
As a third-cultured individual, I’ve always celebrated art from plentiful backgrounds. Diversity is in my DNA as a Venezuelan, Spanish, and American woman living in the Netherlands.
I creatively direct and produce storytelling for cultural practitioners, artist initiatives, and heritage practices in an effort to make art accessible and more importantly, inclusive. My work focuses on supporting artists and cultural initiatives who are emerging, multicultural, or otherwise excluded from mainstream media.
With my storytelling, I strive to amplify the voices of people and communities in the cultural sector. My basic principle is that culture makes us human; it enriches our lives in countless ways, connects us to the past, helps keep communities together, and provides a foundation for our future. I believe that culture is an important lifeline for hope and vital for the well-being of our world.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve fostered a relationship with art from a humanities perspective. I especially began professionalizing this symbiosis by complimenting my Communication Studies degree with an Art History minor as an undergraduate at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts. My academic journey continued in Amsterdam, The Netherlands with a Master’s degree in Applied Museum & Heritage Studies from the Reinwardt Academie. The combination of my degrees has granted me the superpower of storytelling for the arts.
Since graduating from my Master’s program, I have been working on a part-time basis at Cultural Emergency Response (CER)- an NGO dedicated to supporting and coordinating locally-led protection of heritage under threat. On the days that I am not working at CER, I hope to work with you on copywriting, social media management, or content creation.
Some words from colleagues & friends…
“I am the Creative Director of an arts nonprofit in Boston called Brain Arts Organization where Vera was my Gallery intern at the Dorchester Art Project. Throughout the internship Vera had excellent dedication and skill level. Our internship program is very self-driven and Vera excelled in this environment, taking initiative with tackling confusing tasks and taking responsibility for staying busy when my delegation skills were lacking! Vera is a great communicator and fit herself into our organization with ease; I believe that she has an exceptional amount of integrity for a person her age. I have full confidence in her ability to succeed in anything environment she may find herself in the future.”

“Vera has been exposed to culture from and early age and has independently explored her passion for the arts. I had the joy of having her in my gallery in Miami’s Wynwood Art District that served as a base for her journey, both academic and personal. She has developed a keen eye for creating her own artistic practice and I’m very excited when she shares a new artists she’s discovered. The combination of her communication and arts background is a most powerful combination. In addition her very worldly upbringing and global mentality make her a very interesting person to converse with. Having left her native Venezuela as an infant, she’s lived in 4 countries and has adopted them each as her own and accumulated a wealth of friends from all over the world.

“Vera has a very thorough grasp of social media tactics, she was familiar with a lot of our software, and if not, she instinctively found her way in applying them in her work. Aside from offering all the assistance that was needed, Vera engaged in conversation and discussion about Subbacultcha in a broader sense. This engagement occurred in a natural and very helpful manner… Vera faces all her work full of ambition and excitement. She is an amazing colleague, on whom one can comfortably rely on.”
